Cannoli

Of Sicilian origins, cannoli (singular: cannolo) consist of a crunchy, fried dough tube filled with various flavoured creams. "Cannolu" means "little tube". Fillings vary from sweetened ricotta, mascarpone, chocolate, vanilla, pistachio, etc. Chocolate chips or candied fruit can sometimes be mixed into filling, and exposed cream on either side of open tube can also be decorated with chocolate chips or pistachio nuts.
