bunt
When a batter bunts the ball he does not swing at it, but lowers his bat so he can just tap the ball slowly within the infield. Bunts are used to advance a base runner from one base to another, so the runner is in better position to score a run. If a batter bunts when he has two strikes and he is not successful, the batter is out.
