Local negative feedback

Feedback that is applied over one stage only, as opposed to global negative feedback, which is applied over several stages of amplification. An example of local negative feedback is a cathode follower, where the feedback signal is not so apparently derived by the current flowing through the cathode resistor, or a common-cathode stage with an unbypassed cathode resistor.
